This highly interactive program explores a variety of listening techniques, and provides ample opportunity to practice those behaviors, increasing your Listening Presence.

Listening takes practice! In this Listening Clinic, you’ll experience ‘listening drills’ to hone excellent listening behaviors. In time, those behaviors become integrated and habitual, allowing you to consistently engage in highly effective conversations and interactions.

Benefits:

Listening is the “crucial currency of relationships.” Intentional, focused listening makes every interaction an opportunity to build a trusting authentic relationship, whether in a formal meeting or a quick chat. When others feel heard, their trust in you increases. When trust increases, collaboration is easier and more productive, whether within a team, or with a client. Others remember you and choose to engage with you more often. As trust increases, so does your influence, making it easier to gain buy-in. Thus, intentional listening is a time investment that yields a large future ‘return on investment.’

In addition, Listening opens doors to unexpected opportunities and outcomes, often missed when we hold tightly to pre-conceived agendas and opinions. Listening allows for true collaboration and innovation.

The listening skills drilled in this clinic include:

  • Being Present. We explore a variety of techniques to release the internal script going through your mind, interfering with your ability to truly listen in the moment.
  • Making the other person know they’ve been heard. We explore techniques of building upon others’ offers (‘yes, and’) and listening to reflect and acknowledge others’ value.

Experiential Methodology:

Even on a virtual platform, participants are physically active, in large and small groups, exploring a variety of interactive engagement techniques, including some used by improvisational theater performers. Individuals are never singled out for demonstration or coaching unless they volunteer, making the atmosphere safe and comfortable for exploration and development.
