Matching technology choices to the needs of learners isn't as easy as one would think.  A wrong choice can be detrimental to achieving desired outcomes and can also result in a negative view of technology-based training.

Are you looking for ways to confront the challenges of the rapidly evolving technology playing field? Come to the Sixth Annual Mid New Jersey ASTD Technology SIG Showcase.

The theme for this year's showcase is Technology Touchdown--Matching Technology to Learner's Needs to Score Big! The evening will include networking, breakout sessions on leading technology, a panel discussion, and a Keynote presentation by Michael Allen.

Our Esteemed Panelists are:

  • Filipe Duarte, Learning Technology Leader, Merck & Co.
  • John Talanca, former Vice President, ES Sales Learning & Performance, ADP
  • Michael Tucci, Global eLearning Director, UBS
  • Peter Chotin, Shared Services e-Learning Manager, AIG

Keynote Speaker Michael Allen

Michael Allen will be our keynote and via Webcast will share his Instructional Design for eLearning expertise.

Michael, the winner of ASTD's recent Distinguished Contribution to Workplace Learning and Performance Award, will correct some common misconceptions that lead designers astray in the development of eLearning.

His keynote presentation is titled, "Forget What You Know About e-Learning Instructional Design and Do Something Interesting!"

You know the basics of learning and teaching. You've read books about e-learning instructional design and development processes; may have a degree in instructional design; abhor page turning, long lectures, and passive learning. You want inspiration, engagement, and energy; something that can effectively improve behavior patterns and produce results. But with the constraints of time, budget, technology, and people to satisfy, you're not sure how to design and deliver learning experiences that will be meaningful, memorable, and motivational.

Our speaker says that to succeed and do something interesting to learners, you'll need to forget much of what you know about instruction design. In this session, ASTD's recent Distinguished Contribution to Workplace Learning and Performance Award winner will correct some common misconceptions that lead designers astray.

It is sure to be an interactive and engaging evening for all.

The Tech Showcase is a terrific opportunity to network with your professional colleagues! Attendees will have the opportunity to meet peers who are passionate about the marriage of learning and technology, including learning thought leaders and representatives from our valued sponsor organizations.

There will be great food, door prizes and lots of valuable networking. This is one event you don't want to miss!
